The Fats and Proteins Research Foundation (FPRF) invites research proposals that enhance uses of rendered animal products, improve rendering processes, or develop new applications in areas such as livestock and pet food nutrition, feed safety, sustainability, and novel technologies. FPRF typically awards approximately five grants annually, averaging $45,000 each, with funding levels determined by project scope, feasibility, and budget. Proposals should demonstrate originality, strong technical merit, industry relevance, economic benefit, a thorough literature review, qualified investigators, and a realistic itemized budget; cost sharing or in-kind support is advantageous. Awardees must submit progress reports every six months until project completion.
