FPRF Research Proposals

About this program

FPRF solicits research proposals to enhance uses of rendered animal products, improve rendering processes, and develop new applications with emphasis on livestock and aquaculture nutrition, pet food nutrition, feed safety, sustainability, and novel technologies. Proposals must be original and relevant, include a thorough literature review, a clearly defined and feasible methodology, and an itemized, realistic budget; estimates of economic impact and consideration of marketing challenges are expected and co‑funding or in‑kind support is advantageous. Applicants should demonstrate appropriate academic qualifications and track record (multi‑location or multi‑institution collaborations are favored); FPRF has historically funded about five at-large grants annually (~$45,000 each on average) and requires progress reports every six months.
