Fundamental Research Workshop Grants

About this program

The International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) funds the Fundamental Research Workshop Grants to support up to three small international, open‑registration meetings annually on discrete basic and mechanistic translational topics in thrombosis and hemostasis, with awards up to $50,000 USD each. Grant funds may be used for speaker travel and accommodations, venue and AV costs, translation, meeting materials, and registration/abstract publishing costs; additional outside funding is permitted but indirect institutional costs are not covered. Applicants must be ISTH members proposing international, open‑registration workshops (priority given to proposals supporting early career investigators) and must apply online between May 1 and September 1 with an abstract/meeting description, statement of relevance to ISTH, proposed chairs/vice‑chairs with CVs, three support letters, a detailed budget and declaration of external funding, and a detailed scientific program with preliminary speaker listings (final roster requires ISTH approval). Selections are based on applicant track record and ISTH engagement, budget feasibility and funding scarcity, scientific program and speaker quality, engagement with early career investigators and DEI considerations; grantees must submit a post‑workshop report.
