About this program

The International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) funds Fundamental Research Workshop Grants to support small international, open‑registration meetings on discrete thrombosis and hemostasis topics, awarding up to three grants annually of up to $50,000 USD to cover speaker travel, venue/AV, materials and registration/abstract costs. Applications are accepted annually May 1–September 1 (reviewed in November; notifications in December; grantees announced in January). Applicants must be ISTH members and submit an online package including an abstract and meeting description, relation to existing ISTH projects, proposed chairs/vice‑chairs with CVs, three expert support letters, a detailed budget and funding declaration, and a preliminary speaker roster (final roster requires ISTH approval). Selection emphasizes applicant track record and ISTH engagement, budget feasibility, scientific program quality and early‑career investigator engagement, with DEI considerations; no institutional indirect costs will be paid and external fundraising may supplement the award.
