Funding for work that builds capacity to address risks from transformative AI

About this program

Coefficient Giving, a philanthropic foundation, is accepting rolling applications (open until further notice) for grants to build society’s capacity to address risks from transformative AI, supporting activities such as fellowships, internships, bootcamps, conferences and workshops, regular meetups, media and curricula, online infrastructure, career advising, and co‑working/event spaces; funding amounts range from small grants to multi‑year awards and are decided case‑by‑case. Priority topical areas include technical alignment research, model evaluation and forecasting, AI governance and policy, information security for frontier models, and the economics of AI, though other relevant capacity‑building proposals are welcome. Individuals and organizations may apply (university organizers should use the designated university organizer fellowship page); proposals focused primarily on conventional object‑level technical research are not the main target unless they include substantial capacity‑building components. Applications are submitted via the online form with decisions typically made within three months under rolling review; contact cb-funding@coefficientgiving.org for questions, and note Coefficient Giving may redirect proposals to other internal RFPs if more appropriate.
