Future Faces of Physics Award

About this program

The Society of Physics Students (SPS), in partnership with the American Institute of Physics (AIP), offers the Future Faces of Physics Award—several grants of up to $600 to SPS chapters to fund projects that promote physics across cultures and increase recruitment and retention of groups historically underrepresented in physics (examples: mentoring for first-year/underrepresented students, partnerships with minority organizations, accessible outreach for students with disabilities, and programs for first-generation college students). Applications open Sept. 1 and are due Nov. 15 (if the date falls on a weekend the deadline is the following Monday); chapters must submit one online proposal and budget using SPS-provided templates. Eligible applicants are SPS chapters in good standing with the national organization and must have a project leader who is a student member of SPS. Awardees must accept the award in the FluidReview system, provide institutional tax ID and press contacts, receive half the award on acceptance and the remainder after completing the project and submitting a final report by May 31, and may be required to return funds if the project is not completed.
