GOS Avian Conservation Grants (Guidelines for Grant Applicants)

The Georgia Ornithological Society offers annual Avian Conservation Grants to fund on-the-ground implementation projects that benefit resident and migratory birds in Georgia, with total annual awards typically $35,000–$50,000 and applicants asked to request a minimum of $15,000 (projects with matching funds are favored). Eligible applicants are government agencies and nonprofit organizations; funded activities include habitat and species management actions (e.g., prescribed burning, invasive species control, habitat installation/restoration, nest boxes, species relocation, water-control devices) and may cover field staff salaries but not administrative salaries, university overhead, or indirect costs. Applications must be typewritten (maximum 10 pages) and include a project description, objectives, success evaluation criteria, citations, itemized budget, statement of other financial support, and a brief resume; submit a Microsoft Word file by email to Larry Carlile (l.carlile259@comcast.net) by December 31 each year, awards are made within 60 days, and grantees must provide a detailed final report and present results at a GOS meeting.
