Graduate Fellowships for Technology-Based Healthcare

About this program

Mayo Clinic & Illinois Alliance funds a two-year graduate fellowship supporting collaborative, translational research at the interface of science, engineering, and medicine for technology-based healthcare projects (e.g., AI, genomics, imaging, diagnostics). Applicants must be University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign graduate students with at least two years remaining; projects must align with Alliance goals and fellows are expected to work jointly with Mayo Clinic and UI advisors, spending a minimum of 12 months in residence at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester (the program encourages one year at each site). The award provides a $40,000 annual stipend for two years, covers tuition and many student fees with partial graduate health insurance contribution, while travel to/from and housing at Mayo Clinic are the fellow’s responsibility. Apply on a rolling basis via a single PDF (cover page, CV ≤3 pages, project description ≤3 pages plus one page of references) and submit two recommendation letters on official letterhead (Illinois advisor and proposed Mayo Clinic advisor) separately.
