Great Hollow Nature Preserve Research Grants

About this program

Great Hollow Nature Preserve & Ecological Research Center offers annual research grants (total pool up to $5,000; maximum award $2,000 per project) to support field biology studies conducted at Great Hollow, with projects that demonstrate clear conservation applications being most competitive. Awards may cover field assistant stipends, travel, field and laboratory equipment, and supplies, and awardees may use Great Hollow’s lab and office facilities at no charge. Eligible applicants are undergraduate or graduate students and professionals at any career stage who are affiliated with an educational institution or other nonprofit; multi‑year projects are permitted with a clear schedule and require annual progress reports and a final report. Applications must be submitted as a single PDF via email to Dr. Chad Seewagen by February 1 (awards announced by March 15) and include a brief cover letter, CV, a proposal up to 3 single‑spaced pages (excluding references) with methods, use of Great Hollow, detailed budget, other funding sources, and required permits/description of experience for projects involving animal capture/handling.
