Hand in Hand Research Grant

About this program

The American Occupational Therapy Foundation, in partnership with the American Society of Hand Therapists and American Hand Therapy Foundation, offers a one-year, $50,000 Hand in Hand Research Grant for early-stage research advancing community-engaged hand and upper-extremity therapy. Priority is given to projects addressing community-identified needs through formal collaboration among researchers, clinicians, and community partners, with measurable outcomes and plans for dissemination, sustainability, and scale. Applicants must be credentialed occupational or physical therapists and current certified hand therapists with a terminal or clinical doctorate, advanced research training, and a full-time faculty or equivalent research position at an eligible U.S. nonprofit institution. Applications are due November 3, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET; preference is given to early-career researchers and applicants from underrepresented backgrounds.
