Harold L. Brake & Dolores K. Brake Legacy Fund - Community Grants

About this program

The Harold L. Brake & Dolores K. Brake Legacy Fund, administered by The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, awards annual grants up to $75,000 to support charitable projects that preserve the rural quality of life in St. Thomas, Peters, and Hamilton Townships (Franklin County); applications are accepted Feb 1–May 1. Funding is intended for nonprofit projects serving those three townships and for other community needs identified by a local committee. Applicants must be a registered 501(c)(3) or use a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor; an organization may not be awarded more than once in any three‑year period, and the following are ineligible: St. Thomas Sports Association, St. Thomas Cemetery Association, Menno Haven, St. Thomas Ambulance Company, and WellSpan Summit Foundation (Rhonda Brake Shreiner Women’s Center). Awardees are asked to have a representative attend the annual fall grant presentation where checks are presented.
