About this program

The Hawaii Pacific Basin Area Health Education Centers offer a unique opportunity for medical students and residents to gain clinical experience in rural healthcare settings across Hawaii and the Pacific Islands. This program provides financial support, with University of Hawaii affiliates eligible for up to $2,500 and non-affiliates receiving a $250 travel stipend. Applicants must be medical students or residents, with resident physicians requiring PGY2 status or higher, unless prior approval is granted.
