Healthcare Infection Society Major Research Grant

About this program

The Healthcare Infection Society (HIS) Major Research Grant supports research on healthcare-associated infections and infection prevention and control, with a preference for translational projects; it can fund a PhD studentship, MD or other research staff and related consumables/equipment, providing up to £99,000 in total (up to £33,000 per annum) for projects of 1–3 years. Grants require satisfactory biannual progress reports, are suitable for inclusion in the NIHR Partnership CRN Portfolio, and are awarded biennially (next award year 2027/28; applications currently closed). Principal investigators must be based in the UK or Ireland and proposals should align with the HIS Research Innovations Strategy 2025–2030.
