Helga Gerlach Senior Award

The European Association of Avian Veterinarians (EAAV) awards the Helga Gerlach Senior Award to senior veterinary surgeons who have made outstanding contributions to avian medicine; the prize (presented at ICARE) comprises a Helga Gerlach statuette and €1,000. Eligible candidates must be veterinary surgeons of good standing with a minimum of 15 years’ service in avian medicine and demonstrable substantial contributions to the literature, plus promotion of the field through teaching, research or clinical performance and an exemplary disposition toward excellence. Nominations must be made by others (self-nomination is not permitted) and include the nominee’s name, affiliation and contact details; winners are selected by an EAAV committee by secret ballot.
