Henriette Walter Graduate Student Essay Prize

About this program

The Association for French Language Studies (AFLS) awards the annual Henriette Walter Graduate Student Essay Prize — £300 and two years' AFLS membership (monetary prize shared by co-authors; each co-author receives membership) — for the best original essay on any topic in French linguistics; submissions are due Oct 15 with winners announced Jan 30 (submit to emmanuelle.labeau@uantwerpen.be). Essays must be original (not previously published or under consideration), up to 5,000 words plus references, anonymized and submitted in both Word and PDF following JFLS style; include a separate title page with author name/affiliation/email and 150–200 word abstracts in French and English, with tables/figures inserted and word count noted. Eligible applicants are current graduate students and those who received their Masters, PhD or equivalent within the past two years; non-members may apply and co-authored entries are permitted, though students from institutions requiring advisor co-authorship must certify they are the sole author of the submitted article.
