About this program

Entomological Society of America offers the Henry and Sylvia Richardson Research Grant to support the development of postdoctoral research scientists in entomology, providing research funds (amount varies with endowment interest) plus a plaque and check presented at the ESA Annual Meeting. Nominees must be ESA members who are postdoctoral scholars within five years of receiving a PhD, have at least one year of promising work experience, a graduate GPA ≥ 3.0/4.0, and be conducting research in insect control (attractants, repellents, biological, thermo, or chemical controls), with priority for medical or veterinary importance. Nominations are submitted electronically via the ESA awards portal and must be received by June 1; the package (maximum 20 pages) must include a CV with specified sections, two letters (one from a major professor), a two‑page proposed research description, and official graduate/postgraduate transcripts, uploaded individually in PDF/TIF/JPG (minimum 10‑pt font). Candidates are judged on Candidate and Proposed Research (40 points each), may be renominated up to two times within two years, notifications are issued ~two months after the deadline, and eligibility-extension requests or questions should be emailed to awards@entsoc.org.
