Henry and Sylvia Richardson Research Grant

About this program

The Entomological Society of America administers the Henry and Sylvia Richardson Research Grant to provide research funding to postdoctoral ESA members for career development as research scientists in entomology, with priority for projects on insect control; award amount depends on endowment interest and recipients receive a plaque and check at the ESA Annual Meeting. Applicants must be ESA postdoctoral members no more than five years post-PhD with at least one year of promising work experience and a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0; priority is given to research on attractants, repellents, biological, thermal or chemical controls, then to medical/veterinary insect control (physiology/toxicology considered only if needed). Nominations (anyone may nominate; up to two self-nominations per year) are submitted electronically via ESA’s awards nomination site by June 1, limited to 20 pages (PDF/TIF/JPG), and must include a specified CV, two letters of nomination (one from a major professor and one from a previous instructor), a two‑page research description, and official graduate/postgraduate transcripts; eligibility extension requests must be emailed to awards@entsoc.org by May 1.
