About this program

The American Arachnological Society (AAS) offers annual research grants to support arachnological work, including the Herb Levi Memorial Fund (seed funding up to $2,000 for non-student members/post‑docs with minimal institutional support) and student awards—the Arachnological Research Fund and the Vincent Roth Fund—providing $250–$1,000 for field, laboratory, museum, identification, and publication-related expenses. Applications are due February 15 each year (student grant notifications target May 15) and must be submitted in English as a single PDF to researchgrants@americanarachnology.org. Current AAS membership is required: the Herb Levi Fund is for non‑student members (including post‑docs), while the student grants are open only to undergraduate or graduate student members (sponsored memberships available for applicants from developing countries). Incomplete applications will not be considered, students must submit their own proposals, and the same proposal may not be submitted to both the AAS student grants and the ISA Oscar and Jan Francke Student Research Fund in the same year.
