About this program
The Society for Ethnomusicology’s Historical Ethnomusicology Section offers an annual Student Paper Prize recognizing outstanding conference papers that creatively bridge historical musicology and ethnomusicology. The winner receives a $200 cash award, with papers eligible on music and culture from any historical period or genre. Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students presenting at the Society’s annual conference; postdoctoral researchers are ineligible unless enrolled in another degree program. Submit the paper as a PDF, with any supplemental materials, to historicalethno@gmail.com by December 1.
