IAS Postgraduate Research Grants

About this program

The International Association of Sedimentologists offers Postgraduate Research Grants of up to €1,000 (up to 10 awards in each spring and fall round) to assist PhD student members with specific sedimentology research costs such as fieldwork, data acquisition/analysis, or short visits to use specialised facilities. Grants are not available for conference travel or equipment purchases and are not open to MSc students; applicants must be active IAS student members enrolled on a PhD at the time of application and when the research is carried out, and must not have previously received one of these IAS Postgraduate Research Grants. Applications are submitted via the IAS student-member portal using the supplied Word template and must include a project proposal and budget, an up-to-date CV, a supervisor support letter on institutional letterhead, and scanned official proof of current PhD enrolment (plus a concise host agreement if visiting another laboratory). Applicants are notified within about three months of the round closing and approved recipients receive payment only after submitting a scientific report and detailed financial statement within one year.
