Impact of the Osteopathic Approach on Chronic Disease

American Osteopathic Association Bureau of Osteopathic Research and Public Health is soliciting clinical, interventional, and translational research applications to evaluate the impact of the osteopathic approach on chronic disease, grounded in osteopathic philosophy and emphasizing patient-centered outcomes. Awards up to $100,000 are available for 24-month projects (July 1, 2026–June 30, 2028) supporting studies on disease-specific applications (e.g., CHF, COPD, diabetes, neurodegenerative and musculoskeletal conditions), cost-effectiveness, and quality-of-life impacts across the life course. Eligible applicants include experienced investigators, new investigators, physicians in training, and osteopathic medical students; projects must employ a biopsychosocial model, demonstrate osteopathic distinctiveness and clinical relevance, and collaborative proposals with appropriate partners and subject-matter experts are preferred.
