IMS Lawrence D. Brown Ph.D. Student Award

About this program

The Institute of Mathematical Statistics offers the Lawrence D. Brown Ph.D. Student Award to recognize doctoral research in statistical science, probability, or machine learning. Four awardees will present at an invited session of the IMS Annual Meeting and receive reimbursement for travel and registration costs up to $2,000 each. Applicants must be IMS members, current Ph.D. students or recent graduates who earned their degree after May 1 of the application year, and able to attend and present at the meeting. Applications are due July 1 and must include a cover letter, CV, unpublished manuscript of no more than 40 pages, and an advisor letter confirming the applicant’s status and contribution.
