About this program

The American Chemical Society’s ACS-Hach Second Career Teacher Scholarship awards stipends (up to $6,000/year for full-time study or $3,000/year for part-time study, renewable up to three years and paid in two installments) to chemistry professionals pursuing a master’s in education or a secondary chemistry/science teacher certification to become high school chemistry teachers. Funds may be used for tuition, books, room and board, and other education-related expenses, and recipients receive mentoring and support during a required three-year teaching commitment. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in chemistry or an eligible chemistry-related discipline, have at least one year of chemistry-related professional experience, have no more than one year of prior high school chemistry teaching experience, be accepted into an appropriate graduate or certification program, and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Applications open February 1, 2026; deadline is May 1, 2026, with decisions announced July 19, 2026.
