Individual Investigator Research Award (IIRA)

About this program

Foundation Fighting Blindness offers the Individual Investigator Research Award to support research aimed at treatments and cures for inherited retinal degenerative diseases and dry age-related macular degeneration, providing approximately $100,000 per year for up to three years. Applicants must hold a research or clinical doctorate (e.g., Ph.D., M.D., M.D./Ph.D., D.M.D., D.V.M., D.O., O.D., or equivalent) and have a faculty or equivalent position at a domestic or international nonprofit, public, or private research/clinical institution (e.g., university, medical school, hospital, or research institute). Individuals from underrepresented racial, ethnic, and gender groups and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply, and prospective applicants must submit a Letter of Intent; full applications are by invitation through the Foundation’s online portal.
