About this program
The Charles E. Kaufman Foundation, administered through The Pittsburgh Foundation, funds Integrated Research-Education Grants (IREG) to support curiosity-driven basic research in biology, physics, chemistry or their interfaces, offering up to $100,000 over two years ($50,000/year) for projects that directly engage undergraduates in authentic, hands-on research aimed at generating new discoveries and peer‑reviewed publications. Proposals must address fundamental (not applied or clinical) questions and be led by scientists conducting research in Pennsylvania.
