Cisco (RFP-20-05) is soliciting university-led research proposals to advance Intent-Based Networking (IBN) for enterprise settings, focusing on the three functional components: translation of human intent into network/security policies, intelligent activation across multi-domain infrastructures, and near-real-time assurance for detection, root-cause analysis, and remediation. Relevant topics include NLP for intent capture, ML/MR for anomaly detection and reasoning, policy models and conflict resolution, domain-specific IBN architectures (e.g., IoT, smart cities), and interfaces for mixed operator environments.
