International Award

About this program

American Geophysical Union (AGU) annually awards the International Award (established 2007) to a mid‑career or senior scientist, team, or group whose Earth and space science work has measurably advanced science and benefited economically developing nations through education, training, capacity building, monitoring, or outreach. Recipients receive an engraved award, recognition and travel support to AGU's annual meeting, and two tickets to the Honors Reception. Nominations may be submitted by active AGU members (peer or self‑nomination permitted) and nominees must demonstrate strong scientific contributions with societal impact, leadership in collaborative efforts, and engagement across societies/committees with attention to diversity. All nominators and nominees must comply with AGU’s ethics, conflict of interest, and professional conduct policies; nominations are typically accepted within a 5 January to 2 March window.
