About this program
The American Geophysical Union (AGU) offers the annual International Award to a mid‑career or senior scientist, team, or group for outstanding contributions to Earth and space sciences that use science to benefit society in economically developing nations through education, training, capacity building, monitoring, or outreach. Recipients receive an engraved award, recognition and travel support to AGU's annual meeting, and two tickets to the Honors Reception. Nominations must be submitted by active AGU members (peer or self‑nomination is permitted provided the nominator holds AGU membership) and nominees should demonstrate significant scientific contributions with measurable societal impact, leadership in collaborative efforts, and contributions across societies or committees. All parties must comply with AGU’s professional conduct and conflict of interest policies; a submission window is indicated as 5 January to 2 March (year unspecified).
