About this program

The Entomological Society of America’s International Branch offers the John Henry Comstock Graduate Student Award to recognize an outstanding advanced graduate student in entomology. The first-place recipient receives an all-expenses-paid trip to the ESA Annual Meeting, a US$250 cash prize, and a certificate; the runner-up receives the International Branch Graduate Student Award, a US$750 cash prize, and a certificate.

Applicants must be enrolled in an entomology-focused graduate program when the award is presented or have completed their degree within the preceding 12 months, have applied for ESA membership by May 1, and be affiliated with the International Branch. Nominations, due December 15 annually at 11:59 p.m. EST, must include a two-page goals statement, achievements summary, two-page CV, and two professional reference letters; applicants may apply to only one International Branch and one ESA Branch Comstock Award per year.
