ISHR Distinguished Leader Award

About this program

The International Society for Heart Research (ISHR) annually awards the ISHR Distinguished Leader Award to an individual who has made sustained, outstanding contributions toward accomplishing the Society’s mission and advancing its objectives. The award includes a medal, a $1,000 honorarium, waived meeting registration, and travel reimbursement (up to $1,500 for local recognition or $3,000 for intercontinental travel); recipients must attend the meeting where the award is presented. Eligible candidates are active ISHR members nominated by current Section Presidents or the President of the International ISHR (Section Officers may be eligible while in office, but current Section Presidents and the current International President may not self‑nominate). Nominations require a single PDF letter (maximum two pages) to the President‑Elect and Executive Secretary that emphasizes contributions to ISHR’s mission rather than scientific achievements; the International Council selects the winner and nominators/nominees must not discuss the nomination or voting process.
