ISMRM Research Exchange Grant Program

About this program

The ISMRM Research & Education Fund supports the ISMRM Research Exchange Program to fund short-term (minimum eight weeks, typically 3–6 months) research exchanges that advance basic, pre‑clinical, and clinical MRI/S work, providing awards up to $5,000 per applicant; funds must be used within one year and recipients submit a 1–2 page outcomes report before the annual ISMRM meeting. Applicants must be 2026 ISMRM Trainee or Full Members (membership required) and identify a host mentor who is an ISMRM Full Member and principal investigator of an active MRI/S research group; previously funded applicants are ineligible and applicants at or below Assistant Professor and those from financially restricted countries are especially encouraged. Applications are a single combined PDF containing a two‑page research proposal (≈1.5 pages for aims/significance/approach; ≈0.5 pages for budget justification/need), two reference letters (home mentor or department chair; host mentor), and a CV, formatted single‑spaced, 12‑pt font, 1‑inch margins. Applicants must work closely with the host mentor to prepare the submission; winners are contacted in April and announced at the ISMRM Annual Meeting.
