Jaap Kunst Prize

About this program

The Society for Ethnomusicology awards the annual Jaap Kunst Prize to recognize the most significant article in ethnomusicology by a scholar within the first 10 years of their scholarly career, with a $200 cash prize. Eligible articles must have been published during the preceding year in Ethnomusicology, another journal, or an edited collection. Applicants must be members of SEM and may submit or nominate only one article per cycle, based on their own assessment of career stage. Submissions and nominations are due April 1 through the online application form.
