Jacob Churg Award

About this program

The Renal Pathology Society awards the annual Jacob Churg Award at the USCAP RPS event, established by Barnert Hospital to honor individuals who have made major contributions to nephropathology; the recipient receives a commemorative plaque (no monetary prize). The Nomination & Award Committee Chair issues a call to RPS membership (typically by January 30) and members have two weeks to submit nominations by email. Only regular RPS members may nominate; nominations must include a letter from the nominator detailing the nominee’s contributions and the nominee’s CV. Nominees must be RPS members in good standing (any membership category), with no age restriction, and nominations should emphasize impact on education, basic/translational research, and/or clinical practice in renal pathology; a list of past recipients (1997–2024) is maintained.
