James L. Patton Award

About this program

The American Society of Mammalogists offers the competitive James L. Patton Award, providing one $6,000 annual award to support graduate student research using mammal museum collections. Funds may cover collection visits, analytical or equipment costs, and collection-enhancing fieldwork, but not salary or stipends. Applicants must be enrolled in an MS or PhD program, remain enrolled for at least one semester after receiving the award, and be ASM members; applicants of all nationalities are eligible. Applications are due March 1 and must include a research proposal with a Museum Collections Statement, itemized budget, CV, and faculty advisor or mentor letter.
