James L. Patton Award

About this program

The American Society of Mammalogists offers the James L. Patton Award, a competitive $6,000 fellowship supporting graduate student research that directly uses and develops natural history mammal collections. Funds may cover collection visits, travel, analytical or equipment costs, and collection-enhancing fieldwork, but not salary or stipends. Applicants must be enrolled in an MS or PhD program, remain enrolled for at least one semester after receiving the award, and be ASM members; applicants of any nationality are eligible. Applications, including a two-page proposal with a Museum Collections Statement, itemized budget, CV, and mentor letter, are due March 1, with references due March 10.
