Jan Whitwell Prize

About this program

The New Zealand Association of Economists awards the Jan Whitwell Prize—up to two annual awards of NZ$1,000 each—for research presented at the NZAE annual conference (one for doctoral research and one for Bachelor/Master research; a single award may be made if category entries are insufficient). Applicants must be enrolled in postgraduate study at the time of the conference or have completed a Bachelor or Master degree within the preceding 18 months; eligible overseas entrants may apply. Entrants must be able to attend and present at the conference, comply with all abstract/full paper submission and registration deadlines, and indicate on their conference submission/registration that they wish to enter the prize; co-authored papers are allowed provided the prize entrant is the sole presenter. Awards are paid in NZD by New Zealand cheque or direct debit to a New Zealand bank account in the awardee’s name.
