The Entomological Society of America’s Systematics, Evolution, and Biodiversity Section offers the J.E. and Jean M. McPherson Biodiversity Awards to support undergraduate and graduate student research, particularly non-taxonomic studies in areas such as natural history, behavior, conservation, physiology, and biodiversity. Awards typically provide approximately $1,000–$2,000 for domestic or international research travel and related expenses, with reimbursement generally issued after travel. Applicants must be current undergraduate or graduate students and members in good standing of both ESA and the SysEB Section, and must submit a research description, detailed budget, permit confirmation, references if applicable, and an advisor statement. Complete nominations are due annually by June 1 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
