Jean Theodore Lacordaire Prize — PhD dissertation research on beetle biology and evolution

About this program

The Coleopterists Society awards the Jean Theodore Lacordaire Prize for outstanding PhD dissertation–based research on beetle biology and evolution, with a $1,000 cash prize, a plaque, and recognition at the Society’s annual meeting. Eligible works are papers for which the lead (first) author is or was a doctoral student, are based on PhD dissertation research, and were published in the preceding calendar year in an ICZN‑compliant, widely distributed publication (subscription journal or book for sale); publications in any Latin‑alphabet language are acceptable and multi‑authored papers may be nominated but the prize is awarded only to the former student (lead author). Nominations (self‑nominations not accepted) are due by 1 March following the publication year and must include a nomination letter with the citation and nominee contact, an advisor’s letter confirming the dissertation basis and detailing author contributions for multi‑authored works, and a PDF of the publication.
