JGE Outstanding Paper and Outstanding Reviewer Awards

The Journal of Geoscience Education (JGE), in association with the National Association of Geoscience Teachers (NAGT), offers two annual awards—the JGE Outstanding Paper Award and the JGE Outstanding Reviewer Award—each carrying a $500 cash prize and a plaque presented at the NAGT awards ceremony. The Outstanding Paper Award recognizes JGE articles from the preceding year that show clear, accessible communication, strong grounding in geoscience education literature, clear research questions or learning goals, rigorous methods, and innovative insights; nominations may be made by JGE readers, authors, and Editorial Board members. The Outstanding Reviewer Award recognizes reviewers who completed more-than-average, timely, constructive, literature-informed reviews; eligible reviewers are those who contributed to JGE in the 18 months preceding the deadline (previous reviewer winners are ineligible for five years), with nominations by JGE authors and Editorial Board members. Each nomination requires an approximately 300-word statement submitted to the Editor-in-Chief; a selection committee (Editor-in-Chief, two JGE Editorial Board members, and one NAGT Executive Committee member) reviews nominations and awards are given annually only if a suitable candidate is identified.
