About this program
The Johann Gutenberg Prize, sponsored by Hewlett-Packard Laboratories and administered by the Society for Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T), recognizes outstanding technical achievement in or contribution to printing technology. The award consists of an IS&T-engraved medal and a $2,000 cash stipend; multiple awards may be given in a year and the cash award is split among recipients. Both IS&T members and non-members are eligible, and no additional eligibility restrictions or application deadlines are specified on the IS&T page; the prize has been awarded since 1987.
