About this program

The CAP Foundation’s John H. Rippey, MD Grant for Laboratory Quality Assurance provides $1,000–$10,000 for innovative, short-term projects that improve quality assurance, pathology processes, laboratory quality, patient safety, and patient care. Projects must be designed for completion within 9–12 months, with funding available for project-related expenses but not indirect costs, investigator salaries, major equipment, travel, or publication costs. Eligible applicants include pathologists, medical students, pathology residents, and fellows; students, residents, and fellows must also submit a faculty mentor letter. Applications are due November 16, 2026, and require a proposal, detailed budget, institutional approval, CVs, and other supporting materials.
