John L. and Harriette P. McAdoo Dissertation Award

The National Council on Family Relations offers the John L. and Harriette P. McAdoo Dissertation Award to support doctoral dissertation research focused on issues affecting ethnic minority families, particularly African American families. The biennial award provides $450 in two installments, a plaque, and an opportunity to present the research at the NCFR Annual Conference. Applicants must be doctoral candidates who have begun or successfully defended their dissertation proposal, and must hold current membership in NCFR and its Racial and Ethnic Diversity in Families Section. Proposals should center familial relationships, ethnicity, and culture, and require a candidate statement, proposal summary, two faculty recommendations, academic progress documentation, and a curriculum vitae; applications are due May 22.
