John P. McGovern Science and Society Award

The Sigma Xi Society, through an endowment from the John P. McGovern Foundation, offers the annual John P. McGovern Science and Society Award to recognize a scientist or engineer whose contributions extend beyond research to advance science communication and its impact on society. The award includes a $15,000 honorarium, commemorative medal, and opportunity to address the Sigma Xi Annual Meeting or another suitable event. Nominees should demonstrate prominent public leadership in promoting understanding and appreciation of science, as well as the ability to deliver an engaging, accessible address to diverse audiences. Nominations are due January 31 and must include a current curriculum vitae, nomination letter addressing specified criteria, and one or two additional letters of support.
