Judith McCulloh Fellowship — research support for folk-based music of the Americas

About this program

The Society for American Music offers the annual Judith McCulloh Fellowship to support short-term research on folk-based music cultures of the Americas, funding expenses (travel, lodging, duplication) for residency at research centers/archives or for fieldwork, with awards up to $1,000. Applicants at any career stage are eligible provided they are members in good standing of the Society for American Music; projects previously supported by certain SAM fellowships (Block, Cone, Graziano, McLucas, Thomson, Tick) are ineligible. Application materials include an application form, a one-page letter of application with contact information, a current full CV, a narrative up to five double-spaced pages describing project scope and rationale for the short-term residence, and a one-page project budget. Recipients must submit a one-page budget and a final report to the Executive Director of the Society within one year of the award.
