The International Association of Sedimentologists (IAS) offers the Judith McKenzie Fieldwork Award to fund MSc dissertation fieldwork—covering travel, accommodation, consumables and small field equipment—with up to two awards of €600 made in each of two annual rounds. No advance payments are made; grants are paid after submission of a 2–4 page fieldwork report and a separate financial statement with receipts, and recipients who allow IAS membership to lapse before reporting may forfeit payment. Eligible applicants must be active IAS student members enrolled in an MSc programme at application and during fieldwork, and their supervisor must be an active ordinary IAS member; required materials are a grant proposal with budget, CV, official dated proof of enrolment, and a signed supervisor support letter on institutional letterhead. Applications are submitted via the IAS website as a single PDF using the provided Word template at least four months before fieldwork; deadlines are 30 June (notification by 30 September) and 31 December (notification by 31 March), and selection emphasizes sedimentological relevance, feasibility, cost‑effectiveness and demonstrable need with consideration for gender, diversity and economic disadvantage.
