About this program

The APA Division 31 Karl F. Heiser APA Presidential Award for Advocacy honors psychologists whose voluntary advocacy has advanced psychology through state or federal laws and regulations. Awardees receive a commemorative pin and certificate presented by the APA president at a special APA Convention event. Nominees should be psychologists with a significant history of advocacy that contributed to enacted legislation or regulations—or prevented measures harmful to psychology—and nominations must document specific outcomes. Nominations are due March 31, 2027, and should be submitted separately for each nominee by email to Elena Eisman, EdD.
