Kenneth Harwood Outstanding Dissertation Award

The Broadcast Education Association (BEA) offers the Kenneth Harwood Outstanding Dissertation Award, an annual $1,000 prize recognizing the best doctoral dissertation in broadcasting and electronic media. Eligible nominees must be current BEA individual members or graduate students at BEA institutional member schools, and only one dissertation may be submitted per institution. The Ph.D. must have been awarded between January 1 and December 31 of the nomination year, with endorsement from the dissertation director or department chair. Nominations open September 1, close December 31, and the winner is announced in early March and recognized at BEA’s April 2027 Opening Awards Ceremony.
