Kupfer Award (ARVO) - Distinguished Public Service in Eye and Vision Research

About this program

The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) offers the Kupfer Award to honor distinguished public service with national or global impact on behalf of eye and vision research. The recipient receives a plaque at the ARVO Annual Meeting, along with complimentary registration, hotel, travel, and per diem expenses. Nominees may be public or regular ARVO members at the mid- or late-career stage, although ARVO membership is not required; nominations must include a nomination letter, supporter names, summary statement, Google Scholar link, and CV. Applications open November 1, 2026, and close March 1, 2027, and nominees must meet ARVO restrictions regarding prior award recipients, institutional representation, and nomination support.
