LGBTQIA2S+ Equality Fund

About this program

The Omaha Community Foundation, in partnership with the Sherwood Foundation, Mutual of Omaha, Conagra Brands Foundation, and Peter Kiewit Foundation, administers the LGBTQIA2S+ Equality Fund to support intersectional LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and families in the Omaha–Council Bluffs metro through grants for healthcare and health education, legal services and advocacy, public leadership and workforce development, and safe spaces/shelter. Up to $200,000 is awarded annually (average grant $15,000–$20,000); applications are accepted online Jan 1–Mar 1 with awards announced in May and projects required to be completed within the award year. Eligible applicants are IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) organizations or projects working with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor serving Douglas, Sarpy, or Pottawattamie Counties, with no organizational operating budget cap. Applicants must submit an anti-discrimination policy, demonstrate commitment to LGBTQIA+ representation (among clients, staff and leadership), collaboration is encouraged, and final decisions are made by a resident‑led LGBTQIA2S+ committee.
