Lori Supinie Scholarship (KMEA) 2026-27

About this program

Kansas Music Educators Association offers the Lori Supinie Scholarship, a $750 cash award to help recent music education graduates cover personal expenses between college graduation and their first school paycheck. Eligible applicants are graduates of four‑year Kansas universities with a Music Education degree who have signed a contract for their first PreK–12 teaching position in Kansas (temporary substitute posts excluded; permanent substitute contracts may apply) and who plan to begin teaching immediately after graduation (waivers possible). Applicants must submit the printed application form with a ≤500‑word essay on why they wish to be a music educator, obtain required student and professor signatures, attend the NAfME Collegiate Luncheon at the In‑Service Workshop, and return materials by postmark or email to KMEA Vice‑President Jamie Minneman by February 1, 2027. The recipient will be named at the C‑NAfME Luncheon after the application deadline once graduation and the signed contract are demonstrated.
